Swimming

According to Joint Ministerial Decision ΚΥΑ 23069/2005  (ΦΕΚ639/Δ΄/14-06-2005), swimming is not allowed in the rivers and lakes of the Northern Pindos National Park. In addition, swimming in the streams inside the Nature Reserve areas of the Park is a violation of both the Vikos – Aoos National Forest and the he Pindos National Forest Operation Regulations.

Particular attention must be paid from visitors to sub-alpine ecosystems such as the Tymphi and Smolikas Dragonlakes and the Flega Dragonlakes. These lakes are isolated aquatic ecosystems and include important plant communities and fauna species which are in a stable ecological balance over the years. Any human activity, such as swimming, may disturb the ecological balance and impair the quality of the water.
